A delegation from Lam Dong province in the Central Highlands is visiting Laos from June 6-12 to expand cooperation with Champasak province.
Lao PM Thongsing Thammavong (R) receives the Lam Dong leader in Vientiane
In a meeting with Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong on June 11, Nguyen Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee, briefed his host on the cooperation programme to be implemented between Lam Dong and Champasak provinces in the 2012-2015 period.
Over the years, Tien said that the two localities’ cooperative progammes have borne fruit. Lam Dong has helped build a school worth more than VND14 billion and transferred advanced agricultural technologies to Champasak.
PM Thongsing praised the initial results of the programme and expressed his hope that they will continue assisting each other in the future and strengthening human resources training and technology transfers.
The delegation met earlier with Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad who proposed further cooperative measures between Lam Dong and Champasak in the future.
They also met with Vientiane Mayor Sukanh Mahalath to discuss issues of mutual concern related to investment.
On the occasion, Da Lat city, the capital of Lam Dong province, was officially twinned with Paksong district of Champasak.
